Sunny SummerDale

How I made the picture:
I set my camera up on a tripod in front of my sister's car. I used the frame of the window to frame the camera so that I knew that I would be centered. I set the timer, then got in the car and leaned out the window. It took a few practice ones before I managed a relaxed look. Later, I cut a sunburst shape out of cardboard. I printed the picture as normal, then laid down the cardboard, removed the negative from the enlarger, and burned the rest of the paper.
This picture was made in the summer of 1995, for my first photography class. I had access to a black-and-white darkroom, which allowed for a lot of creativity. I no longer have easy access to a darkroom, but I do have a scanner and some photo editing programs on the computer -- which I did not have then, so that sort of makes up for the lack of darkroom abilities.

About myself:
I was born and raised in Long Beach, California. I am currently a senior at Brigham Young University, where I am majoring in Astronomy and minoring in Linguistics, Math, and Spanish. I have too many interests to list here, but needless to say Astronomy and photography are two of them.
