About the Title:
Near the bottom right you can see the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, hence the "Magestic" beauty of these southern star trails (yes, I know Majestic is spelled with a "j").

I took this while I was in South Africa to be the antithesis of Guiding Lights, a 7-minute star trail picture I took of the northern stars. An interesting coincidence between these two pictures; when I took the one of the northern stars, I still didn't know the sky very well, and wasn't sure which star was Polaris. For the southern stars, once again I wasn't sure where the pole was, but not for lack of knowledge of how to find it. Despite the fact that the Southern hemisphere has more stars (and brighter ones, too) than the Northern, there is no South Star. The Southern Pole happens to sit just over a relatively boring part of the sky. There are many methods for finding the approximate pole, but I never mastered the skill while I was there (though I tried every night!).
